21st Feb, a Saturday afternoon quite sunny compared to the whole week and I was out to buy some stuff beforeI left Netherlands. After finishing the shopping I came on to Kruiskade. This street has few of the "classy" stores in Rotterdam (At least the ones that I knew). I have seen quite a few Ferraris and Porsche's on this street.
As soon as I entered this street I saw a Porsche Carrera 4s!!! Well this was just a precursor to what was next. I continued on the street of course my eyes were still at the Porsche.A few metres ahead I saw another car, and it was an Aston Martin. A DB 9. I was checking out every inch of the car and I lift my head to see a Vantage on the other side of the street.I asked myself if I was dreaming. For the next hour or so I crossed the street at least 10 times comparing the two beauties.
As I was admiring the two cars I felt I should take pictures. I generally don't take pictures at all so I hadn't got my camera either. I phoned my friend and asked him if he was coming towards that area and if so, I requested him to get his camera. I did not want to leave the cars fearing that if I go then by the time I was back they might have left too.
Unfortunately he was in no mood to leave the house, so me going was inevitable. I had to ride my bi-cycle for about 5kms. So I started immediately. On my way back I was trying to recall where the batteries were, should I buy new ones as I hadn't charged them since long time. With these thoughts I skipped a signal or two and reached home, prepared my camera. There was half of battery still left so I continued with that and did not want to waste time buying batteries (I knew it would be a gamble). All along the way back I was praying all the 3 cars should be there. Signals were in my favour.
The cars were still there; all 3 of them. I started taking pictures and was busy with the two Aston Martins, the Porsche's was there at the back of my mind. I was like a kid in toy store just that the store was closing. I started taking pictures, I am not a good at taking pictures and my camera is a bit outdated too (not that it is the reason for my skills). While I was taking pictures an old couple asked me if they could take a picture of mine with the car. I thanked them and said a no as the car alone was good to look at. Another man came and said what a day a Vantage and a DB9 together, and we spoke for sometime about the cars and we both said May be some day. While I was busy taking pictures of Vantage, a Peugeot 307 came and the driver pointing at his car asked me deze ook, which means this too, we both smiled I took around 20 pictures and then the Vantage made a sound, it was going off. Oh the sweet music of the engine. I was done with taking pictures and was busy checking the brakes, the design of the car and other details like aerodynamics e.t.c and was sitting next to the tail and then the car makes a beep and I sat onto the footpath. I looked around and the owner of DB9 may be in his sixties was smiling at me and asked me something which had the words mooi and auto which mean beautiful and car. I didn't need translation I just nodded my head. I asked him in English if I could take the photo of the key, he didnt understand and opened the door of the car for me. Look at the dashboard and the controls inside my hands were trembling. It was implicit that he was ok with taking a picture of it. As I switched my camera ON, the battery gave up. I was struggling to get it ON. I managed to get last few breaths of the battery and clicked. As I was clicking the button, he tapped me on my shoulder and said, you really like this car a lot :)
I thanked him and moved away from the car. He and his wife got into the car and she waved at me as they moved away.. not to mention there wasnt anything more sweet to listen to than what I was listening to at that time.
I then realised about Porsche, but I was too late :(, but I was still excited about the two Aston Martins. I called up my friend and was telling the whole story and then I see a Rolls-Royce Corniche II. I shouted on the phone that Now I am seeing a Rolls Royce. The driver looked at me and pulled the car over and smiled. I asked him if I could take pictures of the "Spirit of Ecstacy" he said that is why I stopped the car. It was just my day. Took two pictures of it and then the battery was dead, I was quite happy though.

Hi Nitin,
I didn't know you liked cars that much, otherwise we would have gotten you an Austin Martin as a farewell present!
Hope you are enjoying your time with your friends and family.
Wendy
